![]() Nice details, like a hammered-metal dashboard, abound, and the torpedo rear-end is a stylish way to round out the open bodywork. When the 5CV was introduced in 1924, the French automotive industry was firing on all cylinders, so to speak, and though this is a simple vehicle, it is very well-executed. That said, this was a good way to get acquainted with France's vintage offerings. As with the Rovin and the Helicron, we didn't take it on public roads 11 hp and a 40-mph top speed can only do so much in modern traffic. This was one of the first cars we drove upon arriving at the Lane. Ironically, that lack of quirky Frenchness probably contributed to its immediate global success, which it enjoyed almost everywhere except for the United States. Aside from its name, there was nothing about the Dauphine that screamed French to us - nothing to really set it apart from everyman contemporaries from Fiat or Volkswagen. There'd be something to be said for taking it for an unhurried drive through rolling (but not too rolling) countryside dotted with picturesque villages, fabric top rolled back, Francoise Hardy playing on the, uh, Sony tape deck that someone installed at some point in this car's past.īut you could say that about almost any car of the era. Because this thing is, how to put this, slow - you're going to be rowing that uncertain four-speed manual furiously on even gently undulating terrain, and the engine starts wailing the moment you spot a hill on the horizon.ĭon't get us wrong: The Dauphine is a cute car with a fair amount of personality embedded in its sheet metal, and it certainly helped millions get on the road. Having been spoiled by the Gordini version, we shudder to think of what it's like to drive the entry-level car. Base Dauphines got a 27 hp water-cooled inline-four, but this is a Gordini - opting for the sporty package turned the wick up to a whopping 36 hp or so. The Renault Dauphine was a French take on the Peoples' Car cheap, relatively cheerful, rear-engined, it seems a lot like the Beetle on paper, though it receives the added convenience of two rear doors. Lag? Sure, you could call it that we prefer to think of it as the car pausing a few beats to allow anticipation to build. ![]() The turbo seems to start whistling at 3,500 rpm, but you don’t really feel the boost until 4,000 or so - not the vicious, tail-loosening jolt of power we were expecting, but a firm, insistent shove from behind that urges you to push the car harder and harder. It's a goofily French take on the hot hatch, but the proof is in the driving: The first minutes on the road are a revelation. Well, look past the aggressive box flare fenders, rear-wheel-drive configuration and that brilliant forced-induction engine (you won’t find it under the hood - it’s been moved to the trunk, because why not) and yeah, we suppose it technically is a LeCar, known as a Renault 5 in its home country. Like the Hotchkiss-Gregoire, the Renault 5 Turbo (this was actually a Turbo 2) doesn’t seem like anything really exotic - just another 1980s homologation special hot hatch until hey waittaminute, is that thing a Le Car?! Can you really argue against a car Denise McCluggage saw fit to autograph? ![]() ![]() Is this tragic, desperate longing part of what being French feels like?Īlso, as it happened, Denise McCluggage signed this particular SM’s center console. Knowing full well the chances we’d be taking - the disapproving looks from friends and family, the spilled hydropneumatic fluid, the drained bank accounts - we’d still risk it all for the SM. We’ve never desired a car more after spending such a short time driving one, except for maybe the Alfa Romeo 4C. But between the eager motor, the crisp and extremely mechanical-feeling five-speed manual transmission, the close steering and that impossibly cosseting ride … once you get a feel for the car, you won’t want to relinquish the wheel. It takes a minute to adapt to the SM, to put yourself in the SM mindset, if you will. Just keep it cool, deliberate and smooth, and the car really does reward you with a magic carpet-like road feel. Don’t jerk the wheel - steering is a tight two turns-to-lock and there’s no feedback - or the body will rock a bit until it finds its level. The Citroen’s mandate is subtly, but significantly, different: Keep the cabin as level as possible at all times, at all costs.

That is pretty much the industry standard for website design. There is nothing better than Adobe Dreamweaver. (I have no connection with this company.) There is a free trial - unlimited time but limited to three pages if I remember correctly. It's £52.25 in their online store, or slightly more expensive in the Mac App Store. I posted a sample photo album, showing off three different templates:Īnd this is an example of advanced use of RapidWeaver using the 'Blocksbox' plugin: ![]() You can create attractive sites very easily, and go on from there to much more complex ones later if you want to. It's also well supported (unlike iWeb which is now abandonware). It comes with a number of templates which you can use in a generally similar way to iWeb, and there is a huge number of add-ons and additional templates available from third parties (of course the cost mounts up with these, but the same is true of iWeb). In many ways its similar to iWeb, though of course it does operate differently and you'll have to learn it. If you search this community for "iWeb alternatives" you should get a list of topics discussing the other alternatives. I have to admit it takes a little study but the video tutorials at the Flux site and those 3rd party videos on YouTube help quite a bit. If you've ever added a 3rd party slideshow to an iWeb page with an HTML snippet you can view this Flux tutorial page on how I did it with Flux: F03 - Adding a SimpleViewer Slideshow to a Web Page or this tutorial on adding a multi page PDF document to a web page: F02 - Adding a PDF Document to a Web Page. It's a drag and drop, WYSIWYG application with easy code insertion. Roddy has more experience in evalutating those apps. Most of the applications are template driven and make it difficult to start with a clean page. Now that being said there's been a lot of discussion on replacements to iWeb. NOTE: the iLife 11 boxed version Is no longer available at the online Apple Store. How to is described in this tutorial: iW14 - Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued. However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone. Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images. There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows. However, if the site is first published to a folder on the hard drive and then uploaded to the sever with a 3rd party FTP client those two features will be broken.Īll of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:įeatures No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:Ĭurrently if the site is published directly from iWeb to the 3rd party server the RSS feed and slideshow subscription features will work. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD. Just to promote iWeb for a bit more read the following in case you hadn't considered it:Īs you now know iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued by Apple. Eervyone says RapidWeaver, but I really didnt like it. I cant insert pictures like I can in iWeb, I cant drag things around like I can in iWeb - the whole program seems to be template and text based. It is HORRIBLE, it is not easy to use, importing pictures seems pretty impossible. I have downloaded the trial of rapidweaver (the one with the 3 page limit) so I could play with it and see what it was like. Now that Apple has discontinued (or will discontinue) MobileMe and some of the features wont be available any more, I decided to move to another web-design program. I have been using iWeb for a while now, and despite its limitations, I like it. ![]() In order to qualify for the PPP loan amount received, Cinescope Films' 2019 payroll expenses are estimated to be at least $14,496. Chronic subjective tinnitus is a frequent condition with a prevalence that rates between 2.4 and 20 %. Tinnitus is an auditory perception of sound in the absence of any external or internal acoustic stimulus. In daily clinical practice PRISM can help to identify patients with decompensated tinnitus that require more intensive treatment. PRISM is an easily understood and time saving method for the assessment of burden of suffering in tinnitus patients. In the three PRISM groups tinnitus severity (THI and TQ), and depressive symptoms (BDI) differed significantly (all p ≤ 0.01). The burden of suffering measured with PRISM correlated with the tinnitus severity (THI and TQ), depressive symptoms (BDI), and health related quality of life (WHOQOL-BREF) (all p ≤ 0.001). Based on PRISM performance patients could easily be assigned in three groups, these being mildly, moderately, or severely affected akin to the standard questionnaires. The subtle differences in the burden of suffering were accessed by using PRISM as an iPad version. MethodsĪ total of 188 patients filled out an online-based survey including sociodemographic variables and the following questionnaires: Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI), Tinnitus Questionnaire (TQ), WHO Quality of Life-Questionnaire (WHOQOL-BREF), and the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). The aim of this prospective observational study was to validate the burden of suffering measured with PRISM in tinnitus patients by comparing it with different standardized questionnaires currently used in tinnitus evaluation. Patients illustrate their burden of suffering by the distance from a “self” to an illness circle, whereby a shorter distance indicates a higher burden of suffering. The Pictorial Representation of Illness and Self Measure (PRISM) is a two dimensional pictorial method to assess the burden of suffering. The lack of objective measures of tinnitus necessitates the use of self-reporting and often time-consuming questionnaires for evaluating tinnitus severity. Chronic subjective tinnitus is a frequent condition that affects the subject’s quality of life. ![]()
